[Bug]: Won't upgrade past 1.44.1 on Ubuntu

Bug description

I get a warning in the console saying my Ubuntu machine is using an old version of the client - 1.44.1, but when I try to update it at the command line it says that 1.44.1 is the latest version.

Expected behavior

It should update to the actual latest version.
