Availability on F-droid

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Like many others, I use f-droid a lot on my Android phones.

Describe the solution you'd like It would be awesome if the netbird client would be available on f-droid. Because this also means updates would be enabled :-)

Describe alternatives you've considered Using the Google Play Store depends on the Google Play Services, which is privacy invasive and not useable if you have not configured a Google account on your Android phone (and impossible if you don't have the Google Play services installed).

Hello @abhas and @sebastianschauenburg , thanks for your request, we plan to publish to f-droid when the app is ready to be open-source.

In the mean time, we are uploading an APK to the releases. The apk won't be part of all releases as not all changes are connected to the android app. The latest release 0.0.16 was upload to the https://github.com/netbirdio/netbird/releases/tag/v0.22.4 release, here is the direct link:

https://github.com/netbirdio/netbird/releases/download/v0.22.4/netbird_0.0.16_0.22.4_app.apk

+1 here. I am using Tailscale currently, but would like to try NetBird. The only requirement I see missing is that I can install Tailscale from F-Droid, but cannot install NetBird.

P.S. Looks like that this issue is an older duplicate of https://github.com/netbirdio/android-client/issues/3 and there is already an open Issue in F-Droid https://gitlab.com/fdroid/rfp/-/issues/2688

At the time of writing the latest github release including an apk is v0.28.0 direct link: netbird_0.0.24_0.28.0_app.apk

The currently available version on PlayStore is [email protected]

I have the same issue. The admin panel tells me to update but I have the latest version on Google play and if I install the APK I lose automatic updates. Hope fdroid happens soon

If the apk won't be part of all the releases, please make sure the dashboard doesn't falsely claim there's an update available, when there actually isn't. Apart from this, +1 for alternatives like F-droid or Obtainium.
