Cloudflare blocked in eastern Russia, 2025-03-20

Virtually all Cloudflare sites were blocked in certain ISPs in eastern Russia (for example in Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Novokuznetsk) on 2025-03-20, between 03:00 and 24:00 Moscow time (00:00 to 21:00 UTC).

Cloudflare Radar shows a partial decrease in traffic across the Russian Federation during that period, and a sudden and almost total stoppage in certain ISPs, such as AS 21127 (ZSTTKAS — Novosibirsk, Russia).

    "ЦМУ ССОП в ближайший месяц проведет плановые технические проверки использования российскими сервисами и операторами связи иностранной серверной инфраструктуры", - говорится в сообщении.

    По информации РКН, "исследования необходимы для выработки мер по повышению устойчивости и безопасности работы упомянутых сервисов в рамках задачи обеспечения сетевого суверенитета".

    RKN to check telecom operators for their use of foreign servers

    Moscow. March 20. INTERFAX.RU - Specialists from the Center for Monitoring and Control of the Public Communications Network (CMU SSOP) of Roskomnadzor will check Russian services and communications operators in the coming month for their use of foreign servers, the department's press service said in a statement.

    "In the coming month, the Central Monitoring Center of the Security Service of the Russian Federation will conduct scheduled technical checks of the use of foreign server infrastructure by Russian services and telecom operators," the statement said.

    According to RKN, “research is necessary to develop measures to improve the stability and security of the aforementioned services as part of the task of ensuring network sovereignty.”
