Map: Does not show connections with hop count >1

Open JoridK opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

I have a nice graph on my dashboard that displays lots of connections with hop counts up to 10. If I use exactly the same code to create a map, it cuts off everything that is more than 1 hop away. To be fair, the graph has about a hundred nodes. But it manages to work fine, while the map does not. Could you look into that, please?

So that you have some idea what kind of graph I'm talking about: image

Note: This only seems to be an issue if there are a lot of nodes (>100?). Otherwise it works fine.

Hi @JoridK , thanks for the suggestion. Would you mind sharing the query (possibly with anonymized labels/types) with me? Then I can see if I can reproduce the same behaviour locally on a test dataset.

Thank you, Niels

Hi,

it is really difficult to replicate this... by now I think this may have been a side effect of nodes not being shown if they have the same coordinates. We do have a good amount of those cases, and the more nodes on the map, the more likely that a large number disappear completely due to having the same coordinates. If I find something where this is definitely not the explanation, I will let you know and see what I can do so that you can replicate that case. (The issue is definitely not caused by hop count >1, as I initially assumed)

Thanks!

Is this still relevant @nielsdejong @JoridK ? If not i will close it (i think we can show big tracks on the Maps, see the Trainline example inside the Dashboard Gallery)
