Choropleth maps with more granular division per country and regions

Actually, you can only display countries in Choropleth maps. If you need more level of details about the regions like NUTS Level 1 or Nuts Level2, it's not possible.

The idea is to add a dynamic configuration in advanced settings to choose which code mapping to use to display the regions that corresponds to that splitting.

There is actually a closed issue to bypass this directly in Nivo Choropleth: https://github.com/plouc/nivo/issues/650
