I guess we should detect the "looks like a hex string" case and not quote it, though I am wary of breaking things that look like a hex string but...

Here's the existing logic: https://github.com/flightaware/piaware/blob/master/package/fa_sysinfo.tcl#L292 (tl;dr: parse the output of `ip -o route get to 70.42.6.191`) What's the equivalent for detecting a docker environment and extracting the right address?

This is probably due to an unresolved bug in third-party `tcl-tls` code which sometimes causes the entire piaware process to hang. Unfortunately there's not much we can do about that...

IIRC there were some certificate problems with the CDN that made https hard in this specific case. As a one-off solution you can access the image direct from the origin...

Not currently configurable, but I'd take a PR to add an option for this. As a workaround you could remove the sudo rule that allows the piaware user to invoke...

You'd need to add a config option in [fa_piaware_config.tcl](https://github.com/flightaware/piaware/blob/e0f8c3a776741439b9be32376654943707544a63/package/fa_piaware_config.tcl#L1002) and change the restart logic in [faup.tcl](https://github.com/flightaware/piaware/blob/e0f8c3a776741439b9be32376654943707544a63/programs/piaware/faup.tcl#L239)

This is fixed upstream and will filter through when the skyaware static database is updated for the next release

The data from rtl_adsb is garbage. dump1090-fa is smarter about filtering out bad data. Your setup is probably deaf.
