Controller shows up well in the html5 test page but won't be recognized by game

I would like to play a racing game that supports gamepad input using xinput. Hence I used this program to create a profile for a single-user Xbox 360 gamepad controller, and mapped some keyboard keys to the controller buttons and joystick. The 'virtual' gamepad works totally fine as it shows up in the game controller menu in Windows control panel, and I tested in the html5 gamepad website that all the inputs from buttons and joysticks worked fine as expected. However, when I try to test the inputs within the game, none of my key inputs would be recognized by the game, and I am now really frustrated. The game accepts xinput from gamepad, but I have no idea why it won't accept input from xarcade-xinput. Maybe there is a bug in the program? Please kindly look into this issue. Thanks.

@mikew just to know, I heard from someone that an Xbox 360 gamepad (xinput0) works perfectly fine with the game, so I don't know why this 'Xbox 360 virtual controller' won't work at all...

I have this same issue. The controllers work fine on the HTML5 test site but I"ve tried about 10 different games and none of them recognize the controllers. When plugging in an actual Xbox controllers the games recognize it fine.

Can you give some examples of the games? Admittedly I haven't tried this with any GamePass / UWP games.

I figured out if I run a game directly from an executable it works fine but when I launch through hyperspin on my cabinet it doesn't. However if I change focus to another program such as notepad it works but the problem with that is I have notepad blocking my view. I'm sure it's a hyperspin issue.

I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out and was wondering if you have any ideas. For example:

  1. If I run Dead or Alive 6 directly by clicking on the icon it works great with Xarcade-Xinput
  2. If I launch Dead or Alive 6 through Hyperspin there is no response, however, if I change the focus to Xarcade-Xinput so that it is running overtop of Dead or Alive it works but the command prompt is blocking my view.

Is there a way to run the program and have it stay on top of game? If the command prompt is in focus it works fine but if it is minimized or not in focus it doesn't.
