(Discussion) Turns out that the Mac app downloads these captions as a plain JSON Array
If you want to try a "plaintext attack", these files should prove useful. This is the same caption downloaded once on a PC and once on a Mac. As you can see the names are different, but the contents are unmistakably the same. The Mac version contains a valid JSON structure, which should make it very easy to reconstruct it from the PC version. I hope you find this useful...

This is very nice. The MAC version seems a lot easier to decode. I only have MacOS at my workplace but I might look over it. Thanks.
Turns out there's a converter from "QuickTime (QTtxt) transcript format" (JSON) to SRT (specifically for the purpose of this app)... http://www.pixelsplasher.com/_tools/convert/json-to-srt/
I might look over it in the weekend, I have no big plans for these days. I will first integrate code from the converter for the https://github.com/h4ck-rOOt/Lynda-Decryptor/issues/9 (already on my way through doing this) and then enhance the way the useful data in the subtitles is extracted.
