First D->M message is (often?) lost

If someone said something on Discord for first time, their puppet joins Matrix room... and that's it. Next messages they say are delivered correctly.

I didn't gather enough stats (or watched closely enough) to say whether it happens always or not.

I saw this today as well. Interestingly the text message was only missing on my matrix.org account. On my tchncs.de matrix account the text message was properly shown.
