Map scale frame (black and white rectangles)
Hi,
Is somebody working or intending to write a patch that could deal with those scale frame (black and white marks) on latitude and longitude maps?
I wish to see this feature for a long time. I tried to start something but with no directions on which plot element it should be based... So I failed.
Maybe gridspec is the clue for this? Or the axis could be tweakable on tick position and thickness of line to achieve this?
In R I have found this code that fix this issue by ploting polygons. Should be our clue in matplotlib too?
Cheers, Arnaldo.

Hi @tacaswell This issue it is not about scale ruler But thanks to point me out to this issue as well
I ah, sorry I was confused as to what you were talking about. Clicking the link clarified things.
Hi @arnaldorusso have you found an answer? I would be interested in this, too :-) Anja
Hi @anjaroesel unfortunately I didn't solve this issue. If you want, we can code something based in that R codes. I have created a MapFrame repository. Maybe we can code something together.
Cheers,
Arnaldo
Hi Arnaldo, I’d like to, but I 1) don’t know anything about R, and 2) I’ve never done this before (I barley know what github is ;-) But we can give it a try – it’s always good to extend expertise.
Cheers, Anja
