Getting "Illegal char <:> at index 45: <package name>.app-mergeDemoDebugResources-47:/values/values.xml)" exception from 1.4.0 version. But in 1.3.0 version, no issues.

Description: When I upgrade the material library from the version 1.3.0 to latest (1.4.0 to 1.9.0), i am facing "Illegal char <:> at index 45: .app-mergeDemoDebugResources-47:/values/values.xml)" this issue. But in 1.3.0, i am not facing this issues. Actually, if see the values.xml path, I could find a ":" colon in the path. I suspect that is the issue. Please check and if anything need to change from my end please let me know.

Android API version: target sdk version is 33

Material Library version: 'com.google.android.material:material:1.4.0' (1.4.0 to 1.9.0 i am facing issue)
