Show static slides, no transitions in between. Because can't.

Hello Luke, We're considering to implement your slider on a big project that requires IE9+ compatibility. What's this ticket status ? Best regards, Axel

Hi Axel,

It's been a very low priority since Microsoft announced that they dropped official support for anything older than IE11 (as of yesterday). https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/WindowsForBusiness/End-of-IE-support

That said, there will be (eventually) be an optional css file to include for those who want legacy support.

The slider will NOT be anything close to its original form because IE8/9 don't support transforms and transitions.

Hi Luke, Thank you very much for the quick reply.

Indeed, Microsoft announced that big news (no need to say I was ecstatic) earlier this month. However, we're tied to support IE9 anyway in the above mentioned project.

I didn't expect your slider to offer the same functionalities than the ones available in modern browsers. Actually, I was expecting a gracefully degradated experience like you've described.

In my humble opinion, that would be ok if it would behave like a 'normal' slider like Flex or Slick.

Do you already know when you'll have availability to work on the compatibility ?

In any case, we'll look into the IE update with my team and keep you posted about the path we'll follow.

Cheers

@darshanmarathe Interesting! It should... Do you have a URL I can look at?

lukeed avatar Apr 21 '16 15:04 lukeed

Hi lukeed,

This is the URL which is not working in IE 11 and Safari 5:

https://lukeed.com/demo/bee3D/#/effects/carousel

Could you assist?

Thanks!

@tiffanygct As mentioned in the other issue, the demo doesn't work in IE and older Safari because Riot uses custom tags/elements. Those browsers don't support that.

Build the files locally and test out the browsers yourself, since the local files are not built in the same way as the demo; aka, there's no Riot.
