List of engine strengths in the documentation?
Is there such a thing, in the documentation? I tried using Stockfish and limiting its Elo as much as possible, but even at 1350 (the minimum) it's still beating me up and taking my lunch money. I saw in the documentation that engines "from 0 to 3600 Elo" are available, but I'm not sure which ones to pick.
In separate news, I'm not able to launch the program (portable version, on Linux); that's a separate conversation but I figured I could just get the engines set up to play in SCID (which I'm used to using...that's how I'm playing against Stockfish now). The only issue is, I don't know which of the 57 engines to set up.
Based on my experience playing against Chess Ultra's "novice" difficulty, I think my Elo is probably around 1100, so something around that level -- say, 1000-1100 -- would be ideal. Right now, I'll be honest, I'm looking for something I can consistently beat. I know that's not good for improving, but I've got access to plenty of ways to get beat (computers and humans), so what I'm specifically looking for here is something I can play against when I want to relax and just get a win. I'm not gonna pretend it's more noble than that. 🙂
The best thing to do is to install the programme, and in the play option, you will have the information.
Yeah, I was afraid of that. OK, well, thanks for the reply; I'll see if I can get it working. On the plus side, if I'm successful then it looks like LucasChess is an excellent tool for training and improving...which will probably be the next thing on my chess journey to-do list even if it's not what I'm specifically trying to solve for at the moment. 🙂
