Is there a BaGet release? Not 0.x.x preview / pre-release?

Open RobSmyth opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

When I go the BaGet releases (GitHub) I only see 0.x.x version and it seems like they are all marked as pre-release or preview. Am I looking in the wrong place for the latest release?

Thanks

@RobSmyth have a look at the fork BaGetter https://github.com/bagetter/BaGetter/releases.

Rather use gitea which has built-in package managers for many platforms, including .NET.

And it will never become abandonware as so many people use it and it has 1.5k contributors, of whom hundreds are active contributors.

Looking at issues/commits in BaGetter vs BaGet leaves me with the question: @loic-sharma Is BaGet officially dead now?

Officially dead is a strong statement. However, I don't plan to contribute to BaGet in the short-term. BaGetter is an excellent fork that is active, I would consider using that instead 😄

I used baget for ages because it was so useful and well coded - it was the best tool for the job.

The bagetter fork has only one main contributor. If you want a drop-in replacement then definitely use it, and thank it's maintainer for keeping it alive.

But if you want the best tool for the job and the comfort that it won't become abandonware then use gitea; don't waste your time or repeat the same mistake. Look at my above comment for links: https://github.com/loic-sharma/BaGet/issues/802#issuecomment-2283013191.
