If merging directly into the main branch is not appropriate, it is recommended to create a 0.6 version branch for development.

Hi @RWDai! Sorry that it took so long to get this reviewed. It looks great but the GatewayAPI has since released v1. Are you interested in updating this PR to v1? If you'd like to continue to work on this, you'll also need to agree to the project DCO: https://github.com/linkerd/linkerd2/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md#developer-certificate-of-origin
