[WiiU] USB HID controller not detected

Open LAGonauta opened this issue 6 years ago • 3 comments

Description

I usually use RetroArch on my PC and WiiU's SNES VC games with a SNES controller to USB adapter (using USB to VPAD homebrew). This adapter supports two controllers at the same time, so even multiplayer games can be played with the same adapter. On older RetroArch versions that used ControllerPatching I was able to use the adapter with RetroArch for WiiU, however this does not work anymore on 1.7.5. It probably stopped working after the new HID code was merged.

Expected behavior

The SNES USB adapter can be used on RetroArch for WiiU to play games.

Actual behavior

The USB adapter is not recognized.

Steps to reproduce the bug

Use a SNES USB adapter on RetroArch running on a WiiU. Does not work at least on the front USB ports.

Bisect Results

Probably after the removal of ControllerPatcher.

Version/Commit

  • RetroArch: 1.7.5

Environment information

@LAGonauta Can you confirm a release that supports USB controllers (like your SNES USB adapter)? I am new to RetroArch on the Wii U and was not sure if there was USB controller support. Thanks!

@LAGonauta do you have a make/model for the adapter? Is it available for purchase somewhere?

It probably just needs a driver.

@NathanStrong-Tripwire It is one of those generic SNES to USB adapters, similar to this one from Mayflash: http://www.mayflash.com/Products/N64SNESSS/PC044.html
