Using the same principles as Night Sight (by Google), it may be possible to increase the brightness of an image to allow seeing what's ahead if a flashlight fails. The user would be expected to hold the phone steady and wait for a second or two.

Experiment with the following:

  • [ ] Crank up ISO and exposure
  • [ ] Image stacking (increase ISO and bump up exposure to 1/4 - 1/3 seconds, take 6 - 15 photos)

Implement the one that works best, and if needed add manual controls to let the user experiment. Test this out on a day with full moon, quarter moon, and new moon. If this is not useful, scrap it - but I want to experiment with it first.
