why the need to convert it to es5?

I am just curious on why the need to convert it to es5 when node 6.5.5 and up supports 99% percent of the es6 features. thank you!

node 4.8 is still supported with this project.

Since node 8 was released and going to become LTS, I think we should drop support for node 4?
