Hi @jonitich. Thanks for your PR.

I'm waiting for a kubernetes member to verify that this patch is reasonable to test. If it is, they should reply with /ok-to-test on its own line. Until that is done, I will not automatically test new commits in this PR, but the usual testing commands by org members will still work. Regular contributors should join the org to skip this step.

Once the patch is verified, the new status will be reflected by the ok-to-test label.

The concern I have with this is that this would have to be a major release bump, due to the fact that mismatching labels will make it so things cannot deploy anymore.

hi @mnaser, yes indeed, changing those labels will make a rollout restart of the pods due to pod labels' immutability.

The Kubernetes project currently lacks enough contributors to adequately respond to all PRs.

hi @mnaser, yes indeed, changing those labels will make a rollout restart of the pods due to pod labels' immutability.

I don't think it'll actually cause a rolling restart but it will just simply fail due to the fact that the pod template labels are immutable on the deployment level AFAIK.
