Different assign time for issues labeled writing

Open petersopko opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

Since most of the writing issues are labeled $$ - $$$, writers who get them assigned are getting between 48 - 72 hours to finish the article which seems short. I'm wondering what could be the appropriate time for writing assignment, thoughts:

  • flat time for writing tasks such as 7 or 14 days
  • boost in time for assignment expressed in percentage such as 200-300 percent etc.

This change is fairly easy to implement, just need some thoughts/feedback on this

7 days looks good! I was wondering if it was possible to maybe have a keyword that would extend the time if the writers think it would take more time?

For example: 👋 ➕ would assign them the task and then add on 3 days if the writer feels it's right? Flat time can be 7 days though

7 days seems fair

From the perspective of keeping things simple when it comes to code, I think the best way would be to expand the CONTRIBUTING.md about the writing tasks and let future contributors know, that they have 7 days to open up PR (or at least draft PR), where they can show that they've done their research, or have some draft/outline ready, best case - finished article, the point is to have some actionable steps between the current state (48-72h) and the finished state which usually takes much longer.

@yangwao lmk what you think, I can add the changes described above
