@greglucas Sure, I'll look at this. I don't know how generalizable [my hack](https://gist.github.com/kdpenner/d8706f18b466b40822c7543edb727abf#file-oceans_tmerc-py-L89) is---I've tuned some of the parameters---though it does look similar to the one in the PR comment.
