Maintain underscores from headlines

In my documentation, I want to have headlines that are the names of my functions and configuration variables.

Unfortunately, it looks like these are stripped out such that a headline of add_alias becomes ADDALIAS in vimdoc.

Is there any way to maintain underscores during export to vimdoc?
