Wallet does not work properly in macOS Big Sur 11.6.

After downloading and logging in to the wallet none of the buttons are actually responsive. I.e. clicking any button does nothing from the main UI and the wallet is completely unusable.

Hi Eric. We do not support BigSur at the moment. You can use either https://chainweaver.kadena.network or use the 2.1.1 dmg seen here (which does happen to work on BigSur): https://github.com/kadena-io/chainweaver/releases/tag/chainweaver-2.1.1

Ah ok, thanks!

https://chainweaver.kadena.network/ also doesn't load: image

Forever stuck on this loading screen.

Thanks!

Hi, I have the same issue. Didn't know you're not supporting Big Sur yet. You should allow the older versions of chain weaver to be downloaded as well, because I found out the following (even with Bug Sur!):

Here's what I experienced: I downloaded the latest version 2.2.x on a fresh new MacBook (M1 chip, latest OS). Install worked, Login screen worked. After that though (right after the main UI loads), it freezes. I can scroll still, but can't click on anything. Happened to me on two different Macbooks with newest OS and M1 chip. Here's what i was struggling with: My iMac (intel chip) was running chainweaver v2.1.1 and it works to this date. Never had the above mentioned issues. Today I finally tested to just get the 2.1.1 version and tranfer that file to the new Macbooks and voila - it works flawlessly. So, there's some kind of incompatibility of the newest chainweaver version to the new Macbooks. It's not the OS it seems (at least not with the 2.1.1 version). The 2.1.1 chain weaver even works on my Macbook with latest OS X Monterey! Just wanted to report my latest findings.

is there any movement on this? It's been a while now, and just a personal, subjective experience, but I've been a long time advocate of kadena, and the wallet situation is frankly my biggest worry and let down about the ecosystem. I run both linux (wayland) and macos (m1), technology which is 'new but not that new' and to not be able to access wallets on either system except to downgrade, for months now, is a little disconcerting.

Other chains have cli implementations (arweave, solana, etc) and that would be 100% fine for most people. Why didn't kadena start with this instead of a janky attempt at a gui wallet? I understand it might not be a gui issue, but these are MUCH easier to emulate or support inside jails, containers, or virtualised systems. They're also much more portable.

@monomadic we are working on resolving the mac issue, but have you tried Web-chainweaver https://chainweaver.kadena.network ? We also have keychain https://github.com/kadena-community/keychain which is a cli based signing tool that uses the same seed phrase as your chainweaver.

@jmininger the web version has the exact same issues, surprisingly. I also tried the cli tool and ran into issues with a haskell dependency. I tried kaddex instead and it's working quite well for me so far.
