Weird rendering after latest update

Hello,

For some odd reason, my custom org-agenda renders the following characters as 'org-link' instead of an actual org-header. And after an extensive process of elimination, I found that the recent update of async caused this issue.

Let me know what you guys think. I'm a total beginner so not sure how to fix it.

Does regressing to the previous version of async fix it? If so, can you find out the Git commit of that earlier version? Perhaps reading the diff will make it clear.

It's easy to see that no change in code have been done by making a diff not showing white space changes (d -w d with magit).
