There's a long discussion of why old QuickLook generators don't work on Catalina here. "This issue is that this and other QL plugins are no longer recognized as created by an identified developer due to notarization enforcement. The binary needs to be notarized by Apple, which needs a Developer Apple ID and Xcode." If the developer doesn't have a developer Apple ID, it's probably not going to be worth it for them to get one. Besides, in Big Sur, QuickLook will be replaced by the new appex extension.

For Catalina (and Big Sur) I created a Finder Sync extension to see info about video and audio files (and also images) inside the contextual menu. Is not the same to see the info on the quicklook preview but it can be useful.
