4.641: Stage Strike App/Layout
So during yesterday’s local tournament, there were some issues that came up on the stage strike side.
On the layout, whenever I swap the names to the right position, the app updates the change just fine and it shows who is actually striking on the app. The layout on other hand, it shows the the wrong tag on whoever is striking. It’s more noticeable when counterpicks are applied. The layout on the stream show the last game’s loser making the stage strike.
For the actual stage strike app, I received a complaint from one of our players. So what happened is our Grands Final went to game 5 and we ran mDSR for our ruleset. I have mDSR set on the stage strike app. So, he won game 1 on FD and won game 2 on PS2. But on game 5, FD was still locked, even though won on another stage. I went to check to see if mDSR is on, and the setting is for mDSR is active. Not sure what is going on, or if that is how mDSR is actually meant to be played.
Having this exact issue with DSR settings. What we're wanting is what I'll call Original DSR (reason I say original bc the wiki calls it that lol). Original DSR is just you can't play the most recent stage you won on, but previous wins are fair game (Ex. a Fox wins on FD and then PS2, he can pick FD but not PS2). Most commonly called mDSR. Which is what I'm looking for, too.
However, neither DSR or mDSR in TSH are Original DSR. Currently in TSH, DSR is "if a stage is picked, it can't be picked again" which is actually Game-Restricted DSR sometimes called mDSR, sometimes DSR. mDSR in TSH currently is "P1 cannot pick any stage they have won on", which is Winner's Variation DSR, which is the most common variation to be called just DSR lol. - this is with version 4.641
Note TSH's DSR types match what Smashpedia puts for DSR, but this differs from the Wiki's version of DSR types. And even the Smashpedia page disagrees on what just normal DSR is bc it says its Game-Restricted DSR is just DSR but most players from what I know/can find refer to DSR as Winner's Variation DSR.
POINT BEING, DSR doesn't have finite meaning and it would be really nice to have a little helpbox appear when hovering over the DSR selections that explains what type of DSR the options are and an third option for Original DSR in case you don't want to use Winner's Variation or Game-Restricted DSR <3
If I rely on recent Twitter/Reddit posts, the general community usage of DSR is Winner's Variation is DSR and Original DSR is mDSR and rarely Game-Restricted is used as mDSR (mDSR sometimes just being a catchall for everything not Winner's Variation) Sorry for the ramblings. I just spent 40 min researching DSR definitions just to confuse myself after thinking I knew what I was talking about lol
Ok well that answers one of my questions. That leaves the technical issue. Every time I switch the names around there are times where after I swap names on the overlay, it shows the wrong name doing the stage ban on the stage strike overlay.
Hey! Sorry for not answering earlier, I think I've read the thread before and thought I had answered it, but didn't. Thanks @Falln for the research! I believe I might have followed Smashpedia when developing DSR, yes, and I believe this should be StartGG's implementation too. @shadowdragon2007 regarding the bugs, I'll have to test that. Do you mean only the names that go over the stages themselves (as whoever did the ban/strike) or does it also happen in other parts of the webapp?
The tablets show up fine when I swap the names around. It is on the stream overlay. There are times where I use the swap teams button to make sure the players tags are in the correct player position. And whenever I do that, it sometimes show the loser banning the stage instead of the winner. And the players has been reporting their wins on the tablet themselves.
Hi, is that still a bug in 5.22?
Nothing has been reported on this issue in quite some time and have made a few Stage Strike improvements around this since then. If this issue reappears, please open a new issue with the new details.
