@jontonsoup yes, it seems abandoned. It took the liberty to fork the repository and merge the most important pull requests and fix bug.

I've had more time for this recently, and I'm happy to look at pull requests. I would also be open to sharing access on github and pypi to people who are interested in contributing--let me know if you want to help maintain the project.
