Please add a 2D map showing the aleady avaiable tiles

To have an immediately experience with DDD, it would help to see in a 2D map, what tiles are already generated. I could write a web tool like this: OSM go

But you have to enable http-listing access to the server three with the tiles: http(s)://3dsmaps.com/cache/ddd_http/17/** or any other way to ask for the state of a tile.

I've been scratching my head around this for a while.

The idea is that 3dsmaps.com generates tiles on demand, so showing available tiles on the map from a global scale is not desired. What we'd like to do is to show information about tile generation and availability (to both 2D and 3D views). This is in the roadmap but I don't really know how to best do it. We also don't want people to scrape the site, as users can generate tiles themselves if they need large areas. Server side architecture and infrastructure are currently pretty weak :|.

I understand that, as of today, listing available tiles can be interesting, so I'll try to expose some JSON format that provides the information. There are some considerations here, as in the future we'll have different levels of detail and some may be available whereas others may not, hence I'm finding difficult to analyse all this.

I will report back when I have something that allows listing available tiles.

A list of tiles in .geojson is now generated daily to:

https://3dsmaps.com/cache/ddd_http/tile-index.geojson

If you load this in something like QGIS, you may wish to use a drawing "effect" to make tiles show on lower zoom levels.

This is not a permanent solution, as tile layout may change in the future when different LOD/zoom are added, and the format is not suitable for larger datasets, but will be maintained while possible.

Also, this is work in progress, so the update process may not work consistently during the following days.
