g:nerdtree_tabs_autofind=1 not working and quickfix errors

Changing the autofind variable to 1 doesn't work. Also, when I do change the variable to one, whenever I open the quickfix window with :copen, a list of errors appears. cz7ds I know the plugin is no longer supported by the author, but hopefully someone might see this and help me fix this problem... :)
