Does not run on OSX High Sierra

Open kylehovey opened this issue 7 years ago • 4 comments

Downloaded v0.9.8 (branch 'trunk' r631) and am trying to run it on OS X 10.13.4 High Sierra (MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013). Audio loads for the game, but no frames render and the main screen is black.

That version is 7 years old. You should try to build rivenx/master. If you do, you will have to download a copy of the MacOSX 10.11 SDK, since QuickTime was removed in 10.12.

Do you have any precompiled binaries? I don't have a developer account.

@kylehovey - did you end up compiling this? I tried for multiple days and want a 64 bit version, as 32-bit apps will not be able to be run on the next release of macOS.

@ehpi - could you compile a copy of this program for us who can't build the latest code. Even after getting the proper SDK loaded in, I got about 150 errors that popped up while trying to debug. All of the downloads for Riven X are of 0.9.8 (CNET, MacUpdate, ...) And there is no way to get a compiled new version. If there was an updated, compiled version that could be downloaded from a link maybe in the Readme.markdown which is displayed on the GitHub page, that would give a lot more people the ability to use this awesome little program.

@Hertzer I never ended up compiling the project. I have been using the Steam version of Riven released in the 25th anniversary update and have been having no issues. If you want to set that version up yourself, ScummVM works with modern OSes.
