Describe the enhancement

https://curse.tools/ provides a proxy to the CurseForge APIs but doesn’t require an API key. Code that uses the CurseForge API could be switched over; however, the code changes should allow for easily switching back if that proxy service goes away.

https://curse.tools turned out to be a liability, causing an "outage" for users for about 2 days with no point of contact.
