Is this project still active? It seems very quiet / dead.

There is no support for the Windows file system. It would be nice if this were added

The problem right now is that the 2.x branch is dead, but 3.x not yet ready for alpha. I never tested this on Windows, but I'd be interested to know why the file system would be OS-dependend. In 3.x, the file-handling is done by a third-party module, so maybe that will work better for you.
