reversed state (awning) cover in homekit integration

Open nelbs opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

The problem

The state of a cover from the homekit integration which represents an awning is reversed. When the awning is deployed the state should be "open" and closed when the awning is undeployed like in the overkiz integration. In the homekit integration this is the otherway around which is not logic.

I don't know if this is a real bug but I it seems strange to me that the overkiz and homekit integrations have opposites states for the same device.

Hey there @bdraco, mind taking a look at this issue as it has been labeled with an integration (homekit) you are listed as a code owner for? Thanks! (message by CodeOwnersMention)

Why is this issue closed?

As discussed with @nelbs, reopened the issue, as the issue still exists.

@nelbs do you have an iOS device as well? I recall that Somfy HomeKit Controller had a bug where the awning was reversed, which is probably still not solved.. If you have an iOS device, you can double check if it is reversed there as well. In that case it is a bug on Somfy's side, not on the HomeKit Controller in HA side.

@iMicknl unfortunately I haven't but the Somfy tahoma app reports the state correct. (Bottom left is the homekit integration, bottom right the overkiz integration.)

Hi, this is known issue. The awning state exposed by Somfy within Homekit is reversed... According to them they apply the logic asked by Apple.

The workaround you can do, and I use, is to create a cover template to reverse the state.
