Consider parallel boot
Consider parallel boot using rc_parallel_start at some time. It was just checked in:
https://beta.freshbsd.org/freebsd/src/commit/77e1ccbee3ed6c837929e4e232fd07f95bfc8294
This is a placeholder ticket , there is no timeline yet. Not sure whether this will appear in FreeBSD 12.x, 13.x at some point or only in 14.x...
To the FreeBSD experts:
Is there a way to know whether the above will eventually end up in 12.x, 13.x, or only in 14.x and when?
The MFC After: tag says three weeks, so we know it will at least go into 13.x. I've just asked about 12.x on the commit mailing list.

Merge From Current To merge functionality or a patch from the -CURRENT branch to another, most often -STABLE.
2021-03-07:
it will at least go into 13.x.
IMHO this is no longer likely.

Revert "rc: implement parallel boot"
This is not ready yet for prime time ...
I might have seen something more recent, however it's not handy (not bookmarked by me).
To the best of my knowledge, rc_parallel_start has not been reimplemented.
