Not working with Things 2.0?

Open pucicu opened this issue 13 years ago • 6 comments

It seems Cultured Code has changed from an xml data base to a sqlite3 database. Therefore, things-rb is unorftunately not working with Things 2.0. Are there plans to upgrade the code to work with Things >2.0?

I'm not a Things user myself no longer so I will probably not update it for Things 2 in the near future. However I would happily apply patches and update the project if someone else do the hard work

Just some additional info:

As of version Version 2.1 (20100000), looks like the SQLite database is encrypted too. :(

Thanks for the info.

But I reinstalled the version1.5.3, because it is much better than the version 2. For example, version 2 is not able to synchronise with calendars anymore (perhaps using the "things cloud" – but I do not like the idea to further distribute my personal data as it already is). And there have been some other drawbacks I met when using version 2 (I don't remember anymore).

It seems to be a natural law that software is becoming worse and loosing usability/functionality with each new version (look at iTunes, iPhoto, iCal …).

@program247365 so much for the "open format" database Things used to pitch on their front page :disappointed:

Things is too closed. Developer is hard to write plugin. I am planning to migrate to other GTD tools.

Some time ago I moved to Todoist, because I was finally too disappointed with Things.
