Eclosure for 6.0 version

Open Bravo13 opened this issue 8 months ago • 3 comments

I'm a bit lost in design namings and versions, so fix me if I'm wrong somewhere. I've ordered pcb's by PCBWay link and after assembly it occurs that box from Enclosure folder is not for current pcb version. So I've walked on directories trying to find proper kicad project. And if I understand correctly, Electronics/LogicAnalyzer/LogicAnalyzerV2/designs/jitx-design/kicad is correct one. So I've designed box for this version. Hope it will be usefull for somebody.

Could you clarify what size screws are needed? It looks to me like M2.5 but I don't have any on hand to confirm, and I've got no idea on the length. The enclosure overall prints pretty well, though I can't quite get a perfect closure yet. Could just be my print tuning on that though. Great design, thank you! IMG_2286

Hi @rekonnected screws are M2.5x12

Ah, my bad, didn't know JIT is automation tool. I'll try to play with it so it put elements in 3D in correct place. Reason why I'hve done chnages in kicad project is because I need correct STEP model of PCB to import to Fusion 360 and create enclosure.

Any updates on this? I saw the source in your fork @Bravo13 , but wasn't sure if it was good to go as is. I love my logic analyzer and would love to have a case for it!

No updates. I mean, case works but I can't update mine PR because I haven't chance to fix it in correct way.

Hi @Bravo13 , thanks so much for your reply. I'll use the models as is. Lastly, I don't know much about 3D printing at all, and not ready to go down the rabbit hole. Any particular vendor you would trust to send this to for printing? Also, I see your model images have two different materials, with a see-through plastic on top. Any recommendation on each of the materials to get this exact design? I particularly love your design as it is.

I just had 3 of these cases printed at jlcpcb.com using their 3d print service. They came two days ago. I am very pleased at the quality for the cost ($11.56 including their global shipping was the cost for all three cases). I use them for most of my PCBs (I had my LA boards done by PCBWay so that Dr. Gusman got something out of it) but this was the first 3d print. Could post a picture if interested. Fit is perfect. Very nice work @Bravo13!

[This is just their very basic cheapest material option. Came out just fine in white]

@Bravo13 can I do a recomendation? Just create your own branch clone with the design, share the project in PCBWay and then I will link your project in the main page and the analyzer shared project page, at least get some cashback if people orders it :D

I second this @gusmanb and @Bravo13. I personally am not interested in deep diving into 3d printing or related anytime soon. Would love a link I can click and give someone my money! :)

Thank you @gonzolively @gusmanb , cool idea. Here is link https://www.pcbway.com/project/shareproject/Enclosure_for_LogicAnalyzer_V6_0_b82ed490.html

Added links to the project in the top of the readme and on the shared project at PCBWay, closing the PR :)
