Similarly to what we do for README.md. This is noticeable on Windows with autocrlf: true.

Sounds like this might be mitigated by adding an .editorconfig file.

That's not a real solution, just something that might work for some people.

Apologies I now see what you mean, in tasks/contrib-core.js#L88 there is a check for README.md but no logic for CONTRIBUTING.md.
