how to specify word length when calling as a function?

I must be dense, but I can't figure out how to call the word length options (short, medium, long) as part of the word_generate or words_generate functions. In other words, I want to be able to specify word_generate(short) or words_generate(3, long).

Hi Fred,

we are calling generate_word like outlined at [1] and it seems to work well [2,3,4]. You might also like [5].
