Map settings are not saved.

Open FasteryXD opened this issue 3 months ago • 2 comments

As explained in #725, there are settings that make all markers visible. You can also move the timeline. But after a restart, everything goes back to default. Is there any way to change this or save it permanently?

Thanks in advance.

No, it's not possible right now.

I'm not so sure what would be a good UX though. Google Maps also doesn't go to the last place you viewed - I think it would be quite annoying. Same goes for the date filter.

Can you describe a workflow or use case?

Basically, I can imagine two options. Basically, using a slider.

  1. On the Maps page, a hamburger menu is created in the top right or bottom left, which then makes the function visible. Theoretically, you could also put the time filter under it.

  2. Or you put it under the user settings. This creates a separate map area where you can then adjust settings.

For me personally, it's just annoying at the moment because I have to reset everything every time I restart, as I'm currently working intensively on an era and need to synchronize everything. The setting can be off by default, and then nothing changes for everyone else.
