How to change background-color in Switch and mdl-layout__header

Hi to all,

I'am trying to change the background color in my switch button and in my header after pressing an a href link, however the button and header kept equal. Has someone tried something like that?

mdl-color--{color-name}-{shade}: Have you tried this for mdl layout_header?
