Verify all exceptions have sane catchers

Many exceptions are thrown and never caught resulting in subpar user experience.

@farcaller I would like to work on this issue. On the same note, are you specifying bare excepts here or something totally different? I can see this which seems a bit weird and can see improvement.

That one too but my concern is that the process errors shouldn't cause stacktraces thrown at users' faces.

Correct me if i'm wrong but you want no stacktraces to be printed but just a brief error messages relevant to the error, right?
