EV3 USB connection

I cant get coding with chrome version 4.6.24 to connect to the ev3 Lego mind-storm brick. When the hard line connection button is clicked on the top tool bar I get the message Connect serial device. I have been looking in the code to so if i could find where the app looks for connections but nothing refers to the USB connection. connections.js(file name) only references the Bluetooth connection.

If USB connection listener is something I can add help would be appreciated. I have not tried Bluetooth but USB is my desired connection for the time being.
