Custom Plugin folder
Update disclaimer
- [X] Yes, I have checked and my request is not related to the game updating and plugins not working correctly.
What happened, what did not, what did you want to happen?
I'm new to this but having looked at FAQ & issues here I can't see anywhere anything about having a custom Plugin folder instead of the standard one, would it be possible to implement this?
Version
Standard version (Windows, Lutris)
Platform
Windows
Why do you want/need this?
I would like to save my plugins in a different storage location/harddrive than where I have installed ffxivquicklauncher
Why do you want to save them on a different drive? Your installed plugins dir should never reach above 100mb on the worst of days - if you mean plugin configs, you can symlink it for now.

We have a method to override this, but we don't actively support users doing that. I would advise against making symlinks on Windows when possible.
@piperun, you can make an XIVLauncher shortcut with %localappdata%\XIVLauncher\XIVLauncher.exe -roamingPath=C:\Some\path in it to override the appdata\roaming\xivlauncher folder location, but please note you will be responsible for managing this folder as some pieces of XIVLauncher/Dalamud are going to expect things in the standard spots.
This is one of those cases where we do really need to ask if the maybe 500mb at most to store Dalamud, runtimes, plugins, and plugin configuration is truly worth the added complexity of trying to move a folder that wasn't designed to be relocated.
For developers, we do offer an option to provide external devPlugins folders, but these are not intended for use with plugins installed from in-game.
Two dashes in the shortcut, not one.
@reiichi001 Thanks for a solution! Admittedly though, this solution sounds more like a ticking timebomb unfortunately.
@NotNite There are multiple reasons you would want it, in my case it's both for storage shortage and in the case of having to re-install Windows I don't have to worry about copying over the plugins/settings.
