[PopOS! 20.10] Tilix not working as expected in "Quake" mode

Up until recently, when I invoked some shortcut I configured, Tilix would appear as an overlay layer, as expected. 
Not sure what actually changed recently, but now, when I invoke the shortcut, tilix gets treated as a regular window, and gets split by the PopOS Shell.

Exactly the same here - started happening over the weekend. tilix --quake simply opens tilix as normal in a new window, not in quake mode

When you disable tiling (ctrl+y) it works in the Quake mode. Weird.

I can confirm the same bug exists on 21.04 and that disabling the tiling window as dodalovic suggested allows the quake window to fuction normal.

Extra confirmation: quake window working as expected with tiling disabled on Pop!_OS 20.04, 20.10, 21.04. I'm not a tiling window user, but it seems that you can exclude windows/apps from tiling. Have you tried that?

I have tried excluding the tilix quake window from tiling as suggested, but the tiling window manager does not allow you to select that window for exclusion, which suggests the window manager is aware the window should not be tiled - but is still tiling it.

I confirm the problem still persist on 21.04.
