wine: problem with appstream data prevents package from showing up in Discover
Please confirm there isn't an open report for this package
- [x] I have searched through packaging problem reports
Name
wine
Version
10.1
Summary of the problem
The native package for wine shows up in the Solus Software Center, but not Discover.
The only entry for wine in Discover is the flatpak.
This is likely an appstream data issue
More information
Package is missing or has bad appstream data. It doesn't show up in Discover, where the flatpak version does
AFAIU, wine is not really a graphical applications and it doesn't ship a desktop file by default. Right now, wine is get pulled as dependency of lutris but other game launcher (heroic and steam) have their own custom wine version shipped as their default (or they have their own way to obtain it). So, I am not really sure how to handle this as I think this is not much of an issue.
The only entry for wine in Discover is the flatpak.
Can you show me the screenshot for it? Because I don't see wine flatpak in Discover and it doesn't show up either in Flathub. AFAIK, wine is shipped on Flathub as a module and commonly installed as dependency of other package.
Wine in Discover on Solus:
On KDE Neon, Wine is listed as soon as you open Discover in Most Popular
It does have a desktop file, as you can see in the package.yml
patterns :
- 32bit :
- /usr/bin/wine
- /usr/share/applications/wine.desktop
While it is not a graphical program itself, apparently it is supposed to be listed in Discover and be installed standalone from there. Solus is the odd one out here.
This should be fixed by this commit. I can confirm that wine shows up in Discover with Solus as the source.
