Neochat: Unable to display utf-8 characters, Nheko profile view also affected

Summary

Neochat is unable to display utf-8 characters. This works in KDE Neon. Nheko does not have this problem on Solus.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Neochat.
  2. View a username or room name with UTF-8 characters

Expected result

Characters display correctly.

Actual result

Square boxes shown instead of UTF-8 characters

I also noticed that emojis in Thunderbird email subjects are shown as squares in Thunderbird message notifications
