Font on EFI boot screen too small on HiDPI screen

Open TraceyC77 opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Summary

Recently, changes were made to make the font on the boot screen more legible. This has not affected the boot screen on an EFI system - Dell XPS 9510 17". Native resolution 3840 x 2400 (16:10)

Prior PR: grub2: Improve default resolution settings getsolus/packages/pull/1063

Steps to reproduce

  1. Ensure the boot screen displays per the help docs
  2. Start / restart the system so you can see the boot menu

Expected result

The font is large enough to be easily readable

Actual result

The font is very small and is difficult to read. Compare to booting Solus in a VM which has been improved.

The file /etc/default/grub is not present on the system. Systemd has an issue that has supposedly resolved the issue Sdboot setmode v2
