Unable to select/highlight/copy code output in AI Chat and Composer.
This happens quite frequently and is a workflow killer that has has me cursing in a different way. I can select my prompt and the response text, but none of the code blocks. The cursor icon changes to a hand, and double-clicking just tries to open a file it says it can't find, even though it's already open.
- If you can, please include a screenshot of your problem
AI Chat:
At least the chat interface has a button to copy the full code block so it's possible to work around.
The composer window has no such option. Hovering in a small precise area allows the selection cursor to work, but it's only possible to highlight as much as can be made visible (no scrolling, adding to the selection, or copying the rest.)
Composer:
Double-clicking the code doesn't trigger an error like the chat, but opens a copy of the same file in a new tab with the name in italics.
Composer seems like a great feature, but if it won't apply the changes, and I can't select/copy the code output myself it's not very usable.

Please include the name of your operating system Win10 64 Professional.

If you can, steps to reproduce are super helpful Nothing special. Just use AI Chat or Composer as intended. Sometimes I can highlight the code blocks, other times I can't. There's no specific cause I'm aware of, it's been happening the entire time I've been using Cursor.
It was working fine today, then all of a sudden the problem occurred in the same chat.
Fix this, same issue huge impact on productivity.
Please fix.. This makes working with the chat window unusable. Especially when the assistant responses seem to assume that these features work. It also breaks the apply button.
Ive previously been working mostly with local Temp files due to a specific workflow and wrote it off as being due to that. I've specifically now spent a fair amount of time restructuring things only to now find that this is the case on every single file. Including if that is the only file open in that cursor window.
Example - I ask for edit and it gives multiple single line edits between commented out notes referencing my existing/remaining code here. There is no apply button and I am unable to select the text. If I click on the text, I get error that the file (the file that currently open) can't be found.... The work around is to copy the entire text block, open a new blank file and paste, then go between then 2 open files line by line just to copy the code in. << all of that should be done with the apply button or at least between the chat window with manual selection.
This is all probably obvious but just in case it illustrates the issue more.
This is such a troublesome issue. I use blockman with cursor AI. When blockman is enabled, the syntax highlighting while copying doesn't work at all. Please fix this Cursor AI team.
same issue, pretty annoying =(
Indeed bump on this issue. For my case, best workaround I see is to create a markdown file, and then @ reference it and ask ai to respond there.
please fix it so annoying!
This is still happening in the latest version... Not being able to select and copy, especially now that models became more and more verbose is very annoying.
