🚀 Release 6.2 discussion
This is a discussion about the release of version 6.2, which I'm guessing is the next release.
Checklist
- [ ] Confirm list of items/issues to include in the vNext release
- [ ] Confirm that the next release version is actually
6.2(based on the most recent value in theappveyor.ymlfile in thedevelopbranch) - [ ] Create a PR to merge
developintomaster - [ ] Release and confirm it's working.
As of the time of me posting this issue, the develop branch has 16 commits ahead of master, with these (I think) issues being related:
- #120
- #112
- #111
- #110
- #107
- #103
Questions:
what about the open PR's? Can these get accepted and merged and then we can drop a new release?
cc @crmckenzie @Doug-Murphy
I really thought this repo was dead. :)
Issue #109 is also related, but not impacting to consumers so maybe that's why you didn't include it in your list.
I did a quick perusal of the diff between develop and master. I agree the next version would be 6.2.0.
I still have fantasies that I'll be able to get back to it and get it updated, but the reality is it needs a new maintainer.
I nominate @PureKrome for maintainer.
I don't really use this library any more, either. 😊 It's easy for me to quickly jot down an issue here and there (like this) to help get some momentum, though :)
I want to help. If not directly as a maintainer, maybe fix some bugs or add some features. I would be sad to see this lib go stale.
ps.: I do have time to maintain it so feel free to involve me.
Go for it, then! post some issues with PR fixes and lets see what happens.
Hey guys @PureKrome @Doug-Murphy,
Is someone still maintaining this project?
I just realized it's been over 5 years since the last commit on master.
Not to my knowledge. I never was a maintainer though. :) I just opened a couple of PRs. I don't know anything about the plan, if there even is one.

@raschmitt 👋🏻 G'Day - same here as @Doug-Murphy said. Not a maintainer, was just interested in the project and also committed to it, a few years ago.
I want to start working on open source projects like this one more in my free time, Just made a PR for a feature I think we've all wanted for a while.
I would also be happy to help... I have used this library a lot and have some free time now...
Looks like most if not all PRs were merged by @crmckenzie ... not sure if he uses GitHub anymore. I see one day of activity in January of this year, and then nothing since July of 2020. This may be an abandoned project now 😦
I no longer work in C# professionally and have not maintained a development environment. I love this project too, but Life Happens.
Yeah - don't have much of a helpful answer here.
Basically, things like (pick none/1/some/all..):
- someone needs to be given Administrator rights to approve PR's
- repo ownership handed over to someone
- fork and go forth
- post on socials like reddit or slashdot or .. oh wait! /me checks calendar ... make a fucking toktik vid cause that's what's cool ... to get people to help maintain this repo
welcome to OSS :( the frustrating side of it.
(no i'm not raising my hand .. )
I can give admin rights - who wants them?
@garethdown44 I would be glad to help.
@garethdown44 I would as well, we would need at least 2 admins because we shouldnt be approving our own PRs
I would also like to help setup GitHub Actions for Unit test validation on PRs and auto-deployment of releases to NuGet.
Sorry for the delay - done now. Sent invites.
I thought it would make sense for someone else to be an owner, so I made @raschmitt an owner, for no other reason than he was first to comment. And then made @DHemken97 an admin. If you want to grant owner rights as well I'll leave that to you.
Sorry I can't contribute more - like @crmckenzie I haven't touched .NET for some time.
Very happy for others to take the project forward. Good luck!
Sorry for the late guys, I was on vacation and just now saw the invitation. It has expired.
@garethdown44 could you send it again?
