changing the font size in the browser settings does not change it in CIRC.

This may be OS dependant. In Chromebook OS it adheres to browser font size

I'm on a Chromebook and that doesn't seem to be the case. The font size still does not adhere to the browser settings. See attached screenshot.

There is no screenshot when you reply through email client, you need to login to github to post attachments. Although this is a screenshot taken seconds ago and as you can see On Chromebook OS (My Chromebook) it does follow the font size. Although you may be on 'beta' or some other channel.

Screen 2) Chrome + Font 500% (for concept) screenshot 2013-12-26 at 5 35 08 pm

These size changes occured as I changed them no restarts no changes other than Chrome://settings

Ah, it works when setting the page zoom instead of font size. Shouldn't the font size be taken into consideration? I like the larger font size but do not want to change my default zoom level.

Where were you changing it before? Setting Chromes default view size there changes it system wide :) Come in #CIRC sometime we can find a way to help others from having your issue.

@jparkton In absence of @brieeyeball I will reply in his stead, when changing the font size setting (located above the font zoom setting in your screenshot) from medium to, for example, very large no change is observed in CIRC. Most regular webpages have their fonts adjust appropiately.

@r04r @jparkton : Thanks r04r, for explaining it more precisely.

Notice that in this screenshot (you should be able to see it now), the font size does not adjust in CIRC. screenshot 2014-01-30 at 4 49 12 pm

I'd say this is a duplicate of part of the functionality from #221
